Cengiz Abazoğlu

Has started his career as designer for a belgium based leather ware company. After succesful collections he prepared for leather goods and freelance collections for several ready-to-wear brands, he established his own atelier and presented his first haute couture collection at Istanbul Vizon show in 1991. Applause after the show were signs of admiration for this young designer. Asymetrie and different cuts for that time were immediately recognised and formed his loyal clientele.

From 1991 to 2004 he showed every year his haute couture collections and many of them in favour of foundations like “Children of Our Future”, “Handicaped Children” both working to help children in need, ”Kidney Foundation” funding new dialysis centers in hospitals for people with kidney disorders.

In 1999 he was awarded “Best Fashion Designer” by Turkish Journalist Assosiation. Same award went the musee of CA in 2001 after his collaboration with TOCEV foundation, building and reconstructing schools in remote locations of Turkey, with his defile “Wild Luxury”.

The consecutive collections in 2002 and 2003 were its first of a kind defilees in terms of the presentation and cooperation with multinational brands like Mercedes-Benz, Nokia, Volkswagen, Swarovski.

2006 was the year of formation the pret-a-porter line and after sufficient time and work Cengiz Abazoglu opened his first boutique on Abdi İpekçi Street. January 2009, is the date when his summer collection first appeared in the Paris Haute Couture Week at prestigious George V Hotel.
